Our very own HW Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is coming up soon (March 9th – 13th)! Highlights of the week include daily treats in the teachers lounge, mid week flowers and a very special student created Thank You banner displayed in the lobby. On Friday, there is a teacher luncheon and raffle of 5 gift baskets filled with items donated by parents. Each staff member will receive a donated gift card as a token of our appreciation…. and this is where we need YOUR HELP!
If you’d like to support our efforts, please review the list of items we are looking for. These are simply guidelines – the sky is the limit. All donations should be delivered to the box by Rosa’s desk in the front lobby by March 9th.

Believe it or not, you can help support your children at Hubbard Woods School simply by going grocery shopping! The Grand Food Center, more commonly known as “The Grand” has been a long time supporter of community activities throughout Winnetka. Twice a year the PTO sponsors a “Grand Challenge.” The classroom that collects the most Grand receipts during a specified period of time wins a class party. Past events have included a ice cream sundae party and a milkshake event. For the 2016-17 school year, the Grand donated over $7,000 to Hubbard Woods.
Mayfest is the biggest blacktop extravaganza of the school year & our annual carnival-themed fundraiser. Mayfest is a 40+ year tradition featuring rides, games, music, lunch and an exciting raffle…all powered by our children and your generous donation of time and monetary support.

Q: Why do we host Mayfest?
A: Mayfest is much more than a day of fun for current HW students. Mayfest is a day for former students to reunite and remember their days at HW and for future students to enjoy and anticipate their days at HW. Mayfest helps build our strong school community and celebrates HW as the “Heart of the Neighborhood”. Along with FUN is the reward of funding the HW PTO. Past Mayfest proceeds allowed the HW PTO to purchase Interactive Projection Panels, Water Refill Stations, Imagination Blocks, Stand-Up Desks & much more benefiting our children daily.
Q: How can I support Mayfest?
A: Kids love their class games…you can sponsor the game! Rented games and rides are one of the largest expenses for Mayfest. More information about sponsorship will be coming soon! If you have questions please contact Amber Farashahi or Jessica Newell.
Kids eagerly wait to hear their name announced as a raffle winner…you can donate the prize! Donations of all kinds are requested and much appreciated. Second only to the treasured “teacher-experiences,” kids love the chance to win tickets or memorabilia for their favorite sports teams, the latest and greatest toys & gadgets or memorable family experiences. Email Amber or Jessica to donate specific prizes. Don’t see a prize you want to contribute, simply add it to the list. No time to source or buy a prize? Make a monetary donation for the exciting and profitable raffle.
As with many HW events, Mayfest is made possible by our generous parent community. Thank you in advance for your continued support of this beloved annual tradition! Stay tuned for more information on volunteer opportunities, ticket purchases and more! Contact Amber Farashahi at email@example.com or Jessica Newell at firstname.lastname@example.org
