Q: Why do we host Mayfest?
A: Mayfest is much more than a day of fun for current HW students. Mayfest is a day for former students to reunite and remember their days at HW and for future students to enjoy and anticipate their days at HW. Mayfest helps build our strong school community and celebrates HW as the “Heart of the Neighborhood”. Along with FUN is the reward of funding the HW PTO. Past Mayfest proceeds allowed the HW PTO to purchase Interactive Projection Panels, Water Refill Stations, Imagination Blocks, Stand-Up Desks & much more benefiting our children daily.
Q: How can I support Mayfest?
A: Kids love their class games…you can sponsor the game! Rented games and rides are one of the largest expenses for Mayfest. More information about sponsorship will be coming soon! If you have questions please contact Amber Farashahi or Jessica Newell.
Kids eagerly wait to hear their name announced as a raffle winner…you can donate the prize! Donations of all kinds are requested and much appreciated. Second only to the treasured “teacher-experiences,” kids love the chance to win tickets or memorabilia for their favorite sports teams, the latest and greatest toys & gadgets or memorable family experiences. Email Amber or Jessica to donate specific prizes. Don’t see a prize you want to contribute, simply add it to the list. No time to source or buy a prize? Make a monetary donation for the exciting and profitable raffle.
As with many HW events, Mayfest is made possible by our generous parent community. Thank you in advance for your continued support of this beloved annual tradition! The Hubbard Woods PTO holds its annual Book Fair in the Resource Center of the school each November. The Book Fair is a great place to find age-appropriate, worthwhile books for your family. You can also purchase books for Hubbard Woods classrooms based on teacher wish lists.
Anderson’s Bookfair Company (ABC) provides a large assortment of books, guided by the Hubbard Woods Resource Center staff. 25% of proceeds go directly back to the Resource Center to purchase new books and materials for the students to enjoy.
We are exploring ways to hold an online Book Fair in November 2020. Stay tuned for more information.
Field Day is an exciting spring tradition at Hubbard Woods School. Students across all grade levels are mixed together and placed on three different teams. Throughout the day, the students participate in a variety of events, activities and games that everyone can enjoy.
Highlights include water balloon toss, marble search, tennis ball throw, and junk relay race. The day includes an indoor trivia contest, free Domino’s pizza for lunch and concludes with a delicious, cold popsicle. The activities are planned and led the HW Kinetic Wellness staff. Over 30 parent volunteers are needed for the day.
Every March, we take time to recognize all of the hard work and dedication of our amazing faculty and staff. Thanks to the tireless efforts of so many, Hubbard Woods is a warm, welcoming school for our children. The Teacher Appreciation Committee organizes our parent body to create a very special week for our teachers.
We provide breakfast and afternoon treats in the faculty lounge throughout the week, create a banner of thanks from students, collect donations for raffle baskets and goodie bags, and sell raffle tickets to honor teachers and raise funds that go back to the classrooms. Room parents organize personal notes from students and flowers to be given to the teachers mid-week and on Friday, we host a teacher luncheon to wrap up the special week and draw raffle prize winners!
