“The time is always right to do what is right.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Monday, January 18 marks the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and this year’s national day of service. In years past, Hubbard Woods has honored Dr. King by coming together and volunteering as a community. This year may look different, but there are still opportunities to serve others and there is certainly space to learn more about diversity and inclusion, civil rights, and our ability to dream.
Hubbard Woods is thrilled to welcome Oba William King, an entertaining educator and poetic storyteller, to help us celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King.
A beloved Hubbard Woods tradition was reimagined from in person to a virtual – the Hubbard Woods Book Fair! Anyone can shop anywhere, anytime, from the abcfairs.com website – we encourage you to share the link with family and friends. Books will be mailed directly to your home from Anderson’s.
While the Book Fair celebration is over, you can still purchase books from Anderson’s Book Fair Company, and support the RC! Simply shop at abcfairs.com, and at checkout, put Hubbard Woods as the School Name, and Winnetka as the School City. 45% of the proceeds of the Book Fair benefit the Resource Center in the form of new books.
The Hubbard Woods PTO sends out a Quick Reference Guide for families to print out and post at home to quickly find important information on how to communicate with staff, how to report absences, and rules for getting to and from school.
We suggest posting this near your family’s calendar or communication zone!
